The NWT SPCA holds the contract for housing dogs picked up by Yellowknife's Municipal Enforcement Officers, but is not responsible for the administration or enforcement.
If your dog is missing or you know it was picked up, please contact the City of Yellowknife, Municipal Enforcement Department.
To reclaim an impounded pet, you will be required to pay a fee to the City of Yellowknife. After paying the impound fee, the officers will retrieve your dog from the shelter and return them to you.
It is important to know that the NWT SPCA's role is limited to the care and temporary shelter of impounded dogs, ensuring their well-being while they await reunion with their families.
All inquiries regarding the City of Yellowknife Dog Bylaws, enforcement actions, or fees should be directed to the City of Yellowknife, Municipal Enforcement Department. By following the proper procedures, you can help ensure a smooth and timely return of your pet.
You have 5 days to claim your dog before it becomes the property of the NWT SPCA and is put up for adoption.
