LAST LITTER PROJECT
Accidents happen! The Last Litter Project is here to help.
The goal of this program is to remove obstacles for families by helping them get their pets spayed - to permanently stop unwanted litters.
Contact us to book an appointment and we will spay your female dog or cat for free, AND fully vet and find loving homes for the puppies or kittens.
You’re not alone. Most unplanned litters are born because pet owners don’t realize that ‘babies’ can have babies of their own
Through the program we will vet check, vaccinate, spay/ neuter your pet and place all the pups or kittens into loving homes. There is NO charge to you the owner. The SPCA will work with you to ensure the litter needs are met. It is preferred that the babies stay with mom for 7-8 weeks.
ALL pups and kittens must be surrendered to the SPCA, this is the only way we can ensure that the over population problem is reduced through the spay/ neuter of mom and all babies.
We ask you to sign up for the program when the litter is born. It is preferred that the family stay with the owner for as long as possible but if this cannot be accommodated then the mom and litter will live at the shelter.
DID YOU KNOW?
Female dogs can breed twice a year with litters of 6-12 puppies? Cats can breed three times a year with an average of 4 kittens per litter.
The answer to accidental litters and pet overpopulation is to spay or neuter your pets. It is recommended to spay or neuter your pets at 5 – 6 months
